Brave

It was a school holiday yesterday. I was still slightly sick w the flu but didn't want the day to be a waste so I pressed on with the plans I made a week before.

I wanted to take them to watch Pixar's "Brave" .. I knew it would be an awesome movie.

We went down to Orchard Cineleisure and had lunch at BK then went in to watch the movie.

It was just the girls and me.

Charlotte is really well-behaved so I was confident she'd be ok in the theatre. I was right. She watched for a bit quietly. Then wanted me to nurse her and she fell asleep. I have conditioned my girls when they were babies to fall asleep regardless of their environment. So Charlotte had no problems napping.

Calista didn't really understand the movie (since she's only 3 plus) but she sat quietly and laughed at all the funny parts. She enjoyed herself for sure.

The movie was really good. The girls and I enjoyed it immensely. Daddy would've liked to come with us but he had to work that day. Bummer for him. He would've enjoyed the movie too.

We went shopping after that. I love walking around Orchard with my girls.

Hehe. Charlotte has this new way of grinning when I want to take a photo and I ask her to. It's darn funny. See the pics. She's really cheeky.

Happy 8th Birthday, my little American girl :)

On the 8th of July, Lauren turned 8 years.

Wow, I can't believe 8 years ago, I was in the States giving birth to her.

Lauren, insisted that she didn't want a sissy girly cake. She instead requested for a, get this, SPIDERMAN cake.

I was dumbfounded and tried to steer her towards mmmm, Barbie or Strawberry Shortcake or Disney Princesses .. Nope, she wouldn't budge.

Sigh.

So a Spiderman cake it was. Here are some pics.

Durians grow on trees

Yes, they do. Not in styrofoam boxes although personally, that's how I like them to be. We had been invited to go to a friend's family fruit plantation to pick durians and other fruit and man, it was really a fun and educational experience. And interesting too. The plantation was in Johor, Malaysia so we set off really early on Saturday morning to get there. We all went except my maid and Claudia who had to go to school (she was bummed).

Our friend was really nice. And informative too. He pointed out trees and what to do and not to do. And at the plantation, there was a small kampung house with a clean toilet and a sink to wash up. Very grateful for that.

The girls were covered up in long sleeves and long pants to prevent mozzies from biting. And mosquitoe patches and insect repellant was used.

Here are some pics. Lauren managed to find a durian all on her own. The girls really enjoyed the experience. And frankly speaking, I had never seen a durian tree before this. Or a mangosteen tree. Or a rambutan tree. Lol.

I was surprised no one was squeamish about trampling around in long grass with insects and mosquitoes and flies galore. They were happy to go traipsing around and explore and look at spiders and other insects.

We gathered a lot of durians. Daddy has been surviving on durians exclusively for the last few days. Haha.

Almost 1.5 !

Little girlie is almost one and a half years old. She is a toddler now .. Running around and climbing and shrieking and baby chatting ..

And man, she is active. I get a headache just running around after her. Haha. Especially when we're at someone else's place. She has no fear and wants to touch everything. Much to my horror of course. Haha!

Daddy x 100 times a day

Charlotte LOVES her Daddy. If Daddy is around and she doesn't want milk from me, she's just calling "Daddy" the whole day. That's perfectly fine by me. It's really funny to see :)

The little girl has figured out that Daddy is the "go to" guy .. Daddy WILL carry her for long periods of time and play with her. Hahahaha! Unlike shitty mummy who keeps trying to put her down barely 2 minute into the carry.

So, she LOVES calling "Daddy" repeatedly the whole day. Easily more than a hundred times a day (on the weekend and the recent 2 weeks Daddy was around) .. And when she's "injured" too, the little drama queen clutches her "injured" part and goes running to Daddy looking for sympathy. Hahaha! So cute!

She really is damn "manja" with him.

Beating the crowd ..

I decided to celebrate Father's Day earlier this year for a few reasons. A) because it will be crowded on Sunday to go to any eating establishment and have a meal, B) for buffets and such, it will also be pricier and I don't see WHY I have to pay more and C) we had nothing better else to do yesterday ie Thursday so why not spend it EATING?! Lol.

I brought The Hubby and the girls to my favourite place on earth, Rose Veranda at Shangrila hotel. Here are some pics.

Happy holidays

We've been having a nice, relaxing holiday so far. The weather has been a bit warm .. So no visits to the zoo YET. Lol. Daddy will be home pretty much the rest of the next 2 weeks so we are looking forward to spending time with him.

Today, we went to town for a bit. Here is a pic of the girls that I really like.
